I live outside of a small town and was driving home from the library. It was winter in Wisconsin, and this day was bitterly cold. The wind was blowing hard, and it was sleeting a bit. I saw an elderly lady walking outside, hunched over, fighting the wind while trying to carry a grocery bag. I had no idea who she was, but I could not leave her in the weather. I pulled over and asked if she wanted a ride.

She quickly got into the van, but said not a word. When I asked her where she lived, it was clear that she was very hard of hearing as well. She was able to point out directions for me. As she got out of my van, an overwhelming sense of God’s love filled my heart. She never said a word, but I would do it again.
